The most common kinds are blue kyanite streaked with black, green, indigo, and white. However, there are also kyanite that’s color yellow, pink, gray, white, and orange. Kyanite can be found in the USA, Switzerland, Italy, Brazil, Austria, and India. The name comes from the Greek word ‘kuanos’ or ‘kyanos’, meaning deep blue. It used to be called Disthene, which means ‘two strengths’. Kyanite is also called Cyanite and Rhaetic Ide.
