It is highly resistant to both mechanical and chemical weathering. It is translucent to transparent, occurs in virtually every color you can think of, and measures 7 on the Mohs scale for hardness. Its chemical composition is SiO2, and its crystal system is hexagonal. Quartz can be found all over the world!

📖Crystal properties📖: Fluorite is a form of calcium fluorid aka composed of calcium and fluorine (CaF2). It belongs to the family of halide minerals, has a cubic appearance and is in isometric crystal system. Sometimes it can be a colorless crystal, but other times it can also be purple, blue, green, yellow, or pink, or other combinations of these colors. Named in 1797 by Carlo Antonio Galeani Napione from the Latin, fluere = "to flow" (for its use as a flux.) Fluorescence in fluorite is thought to be caused when trace amounts of yttrium, europium, samarium, or other elements substitute for calcium in the fluorite mineral structure. In the mining industry, fluorite is often called "fluorspar." Fluorite is a relatively soft stone, it rates a 4 out of 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. It can be most commonly found in China, Peru, Brazil, the UK, USA, and Canada.
