📖Crystal Properties📖: Lapis Lazuli is a metamorphic rock containing lazurite, which gives it its distinctive blue color. It contains calcite, Pyrite  and minor amounts of other minerals. The name comes from the Latin word ‘lapis’ meaning ‘stone’ and the Persian lazhward meaning ‘blue.’ It has been around for centuries, and its popularity still has not diminished. Today it is mined in the USA, Chile, Italy, and Afghanistan.
